More Than a Calligraphy Experience - at GINSHO SHOIN Osaka

Many people join us for a one-time calligraphy experience, and that is always welcome. But for those who are living in Japan — even for a short time — calligraphy can become something deeper.

This month, a student from Colombia who is studying in Japan began coming to our regular lessons. She loves Japanese literature and even writes Haiku in Japanese. She enjoys writing her own Haiku with a brush, bringing her words gently onto paper.

Watching her carefully form each character reminds me that calligraphy is not only about technique.

It is a quiet way of meeting the Japanese language — slowly, personally, and with intention.

A Space with Freedom

One of the special qualities of GINSHO SHOIN in Osaka, is its flexibility and openness.

You may come once a week, twice a month, or at a pace that feels right for you. Rather than following a rigid program, we create lessons together based on what you wish to explore — classical texts, your own words, poems, or simply something that reflects what is in your heart.

Through calligraphy, we gently co-create what you would like to express or experience. It is a calm and collaborative time — not only a lesson, but a shared creative space.

Learning Together

On Saturdays, foreign children can also join lessons together with Japanese elementary and junior high school students. It becomes a natural space of cultural exchange through writing.

GINSHO SHOIN in Osaka also warmly welcome Japanese students for regular lessons. Inquiries in Japanese are, of course, very welcome.

If you feel curious, please contact us through the inquiry form.

We would be happy to hear from you.
