Grateful for Every Guest-GINSHO SHOIN Calligraphy in Osaka
There are many cultural experiences people can choose from while visiting Japan, so we always feel deeply grateful when guests choose calligraphy and come to our small studio.
Every time, we can feel their excitement and curiosity — the feeling of “I want to know!” and “I want to try!”
One, Two, Sou!
Our teacher, Ginsho-sensei, who is nearly 80 years old, naturally becomes very passionate during the lessons, joyfully guiding guests with gestures and cheerful “one, two… sou!” ("sou!" is a cheerful Japanese way of saying “Yes!” or “That’s it!”) moments. ( ´艸`)
The theme is completely free. Guests write their favorite animals, flowers, meaningful words, personal feelings, and many other things that are important to them.
From First Practice to Masterpiece
It is not only about writing with a brush.
We practice together again and again during the lesson, and by the time guests begin their final “masterpiece,” everyone is smiling, focused, and fully into it.
With a little guidance along the way, the final work often becomes surprisingly strong and expressive compared to the very first practice sheet — and many guests proudly say, “Wow, I did it!”
And of course, at the end, we hope everyone receives a happy “sou, sou!” (“Yes, that’s it!” in Japanese) from Ginsho-sensei ( ´艸`)
We are just a small studio with one teacher, but it is always a joyful and memorable time.
